Harmonizers mourn the end of Fifth Harmony, as the group announces a hiatus

To the dismay of millions of fans everywhere, Fifth Harmony announced Monday morning that the group plans to take an indefinite hiatus to pursue solo endeavors. The group members, Dinah Jane, Normani Kordei, Ally Brooke, and Lauren Jauregui announced the news on Twitter.

“We’ve really had one hell of a memorable journey together and can’t begin to express our gratitude to y’all for coming along with us on this wild ride,” a statement released by the group on Twitter said. “After six years going hard, non-stop, we also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we do need to take some time for now to go on a hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors.”

The announcement doesn’t come as a total surprise, as the singers have already been pursuing solo music. In February, Kordei released her single “Love Lies” with Khalid and appeared on the most recent season of Dancing With the Stars, making it to the finale. Jane released “Boom Boom” with RedOne, Daddy Yankee, and French Montana in October; Jauregui released “All Night” with Steve Aoki in January; and Brooke dropped “Perfect” with Topic in January.

Still, Harmonizers were understandably in mourning in the wake of the announcement.

Former member Camila Cabello was the first member to break away from Fifth Harmony back in 2016 when she also left the group to pursue a solo career. The group noted that it still has a few gigs lined up throughout the rest of 2018 and promised fans that those shows would go on as scheduled.
