If you haven’t heard of Alberto Machado, you’re not alone. He’s not a major boxing star, and he’s overshadowed by plenty of others in the 130-pound junior lightweight division. But the Alberto Machado vs. Andrew Cancio fight on Saturday is another significant step for the Puerto Rican-born boxer, and you can watch it for free on DAZN.
Machado is competing in his first major main event, and he’s defending his world title for the third time. He might not ever become a full-fledged mainstream star, but he’s got the talent to be at the top of his weight class (or at least to make good fights against those who are). Either way, he’s worth checking out.
Here’s everything you need to know to watch the Machado vs. Cancio live stream for free.

What is DAZN?
DAZN is the only way to watch Machado vs. Cancio, and it comes with a one-month trial, allowing you to stream the fight for free. After that, it’s just $9.99 per month, which is a great deal considering how much pay-per-view events typically cost.
Launched in the U.S. in September 2018, DAZN is a new streaming service that specializes in boxing and MMA. It’s the exclusive home of Canelo Alvarez, after signing a 5-year, 11-fight deal in October, not to mention Matchroom Boxing and Bellator. In total, DAZN promises more than 100 fights per year. That’s a lot of knockouts for your buck.
DAZN works with Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick and Fire TV, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and both iOS and Android phones. All you have to do is download the DAZN app and log-in with your subscription credentials. You can also stream via computer browsers Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Internet Explorer, and Opera.

Alberto Machado vs. Andrew Cancio: Why it matters
Alberto Machado (21-0, 17 knockouts) has had a nice run in the past 16 months. He’s won three times against opponents who had a combined record of 73-2, and he earned his first world title by surviving a tough battle against Jezzrel Corrales in October 2017.
Since then, he shut out the previously undefeated Rafael Mensah and destroyed Yuandale Evans in the first round.
Machado has discussed his goal of becoming the next great Puerto Rican fighter. The island has produced some of the biggest stars of the past two decades, including Miguel Cotto and Felix Trinidad.
Andrew Cancio (19-4-2, 14 KOs) will try to halt Machado’s momentum by pulling off the biggest upset of his career. The 9/1 betting underdog knows it won’t be easy.
“I know it will be tough, but I’m well prepared for this fight,” Cancio said in a press conference. “It’s been a long road to get here, but we’re here. We’re going to do everything in our power to win on Saturday night.”
Cancio’s record looks unimpressive, but he’s also beaten some solid opponents (Rocky Juarez, Hugo Cazares, and Rene Alvaredo, to name a few). But Cancio has never beaten a top fighter like Machado. He’s fallen short in his two biggest fights—against Joseph Diaz and Ronny Rios—and that isn’t lost on Machado.
“Cancio is a great warrior with good experience and will come very hungry, but I will prepare myself responsibly as he is a great challenge for my career,” Machado said when the fight was first announced. “A victory over him will take me further to what I want to achieve in this sport.”
