How to watch SEC Network online

No one dominates college football quite like the SEC, and if you want to catch all the action on Saturdays, you’ll want to watch SEC Network. The channel makes it easy for you to live stream 45 SEC football games you won’t see anywhere else. There are a number of live TV streaming services that carry SEC Network, and we’ve broken down what you need to know about each one below.

What is the SEC Network?

The SEC Network is a sports channel that features live games, highlights, and news from the Southeastern Conference: University of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Kentucky, University of Missouri, University of South Carolina, University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt University, University of Alabama, University of Arkansas, Auburn University, Louisiana State University, University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, and Texas A&M University.

It’s produced and hosted by ESPN. Basically, if you have a way to watch ESPN online, you can also watch SEC Network and SEC Network+ (more on that in a minute).

It’s not just for college football, either. SEC Network broadcasts roughly 75 baseball games, 100 men’s basketball games (and 60 women’s), along with 50 softball games and track and field events. SEC Network also offers original programming, like the daily news show SEC NowThe Paul Finebaum Show, and the documentary series SEC Storied (be sure to check out the episode on “Pistol” Pete Maravich).

What is SEC Network Plus?

SEC Network Plus (more commonly styled as SEC Network+) is not a channel that you’ll find on DirecTV or with any live TV streaming service. It functions more like ESPN+. It’s an ESPN-only bonus feature that allows you to watch SEC games on the ESPN site and WatchESPN app. That doesn’t mean you can’t watch it on your TV; you’ll just need something like a streaming device like Chromecast or a smart TV where you can add ESPN.

Unlike ESPN+, you don’t have to pay extra for SEC Network+. So long as you have a way to watch ESPN online, you’ll have access to SEC Network+ games.

If you do see two SEC Network channels with your cable company or in your live TV streaming package, the second one is not SEC Network+. It’s SEC Network Alliance, which functions as a spillover channel in case two games conflict, which is often the case if there’s a delay or overtime.

There are four tiers of PlayStation Vue channels, and you’ll need at least the Core package to watch SEC Network, which costs $49.99 per month. With 60 channels, Core offers Big Ten Network, CBS Sports Network, ESPN News, ESPNU, NBC Golf, MLB Network, NBA TV, and, for what it’s worth, NFL Network. 4) Sling TV

Cost: $30-$45 per month

Devices: Amazon Fire TVs, Android Fire Stick, Apple TV, Android TV, Roku, Xbox One, Google Chromecast, and iOS and Android devices

You have to jump through a couple of hoops to watch SEC Network on Sling TV, but it’s worth it if you’re trying to save money. SEC Network is available only as part of the Sports Extra package for Sling Orange (but not Sling Blue). That add-on package costs $5 per month, in addition to Sling Orange’s $25 per month, which brings your total to $30 per month. (If I’m not mistaken, you can also add the Sling Orange Sports Extra package to Sling Orange + Blue, which costs $40 per month.) It’s a little confusing, but you can see a full breakdown of Sling TV channels here. But with that low, low price, you’ll also get ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, NHL Network, NBA TV, and Pac-12 Network, as well as SEC Network Alliance.

Game-changing feature: Price. Sling TV offers the most college football for the least amount of money.

DirecTV Now comes in five different sizes. (You can see a full breakdown of DirecTV Now channels here.) For SEC Network, you can get away with the aptly named Just Right, which costs $55 per month and also includes ESPN and NFL Network, alongside AMC, Comedy Central, FS1, FX, HGTV, NBCSN, MTV, MSNBC, Syfy, and TNT. It’s a steep price, but you can add HBO for just $5 a month.

Game-changing feature: AT&T Unlimited customers can save $25 a month off every DirecTV Now package.
